QHSLS and Veritas Academy are in a partnership where students from both schools can apply to take AP courses in either school. Additional AP courses include: AP Computer Science and AP Spanish Literature

School-Based Special Programs

Youth Leaders (in partnership with CARA-NY): Selected seniors train to be peer college counselors. They assist students in completing college applications, give presentations and workshops, and attend certain staff meetings.

Taiwan Exchange: Selected seniors travel to Taiwan for one week to practice Mandarin and visit public schools around the island.

College Now Classes: Partnered with CUNY Queens College and LaGuardia Community College. Students may receive 3 college credits. Courses occur after school or on Saturdays.

Co-Op Student Aides: Students can apply to work for the school part-time, supporting administrative tasks.

Peer Tutors: QHSLS partners with the Chinese American Planning Counsel (CPC) to offer an after-school homework program. Students can apply to work as peer tutors part time.

Leadership Programs: with Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE), students learn leadership and communication skills through conducting special projects within the community.

Community service opportunities: Includes tutoring classmates in various subjects and working in our main office. Outside opportunities are coordinated through our school’s Key Club.

Public School Athletic League (PSAL)

QHSLS is on a shared campus with Flushing High School and Veritas Academy. Students from each school participate under the Flushing Campus as one team.

Offerings may change each school year. Students are always welcome to propose new clubs.
